Last year, I decided to make a dried citrus garland… Previous to that, I had never had that urge #adulting. I made my first batch of dried oranges and grapefruit in 2021, and to my surprise, I LOVED them. A lot.
It’s actually a very simple DIY (despite my 3 attempts…). It wasn’t hard or tricky, but if you get sidetracked, like me, you forget about them and turn them into orange chips… I made 2 batches of orange ‘chips’ and 1 perfectly dried batch (which is still a point of pride today). We use them every year and this year I made more after our dog decided to snack on some. These are such a fun way to make a garland, and add a colorful touch to garland/greenery, or use as ornaments for your tree. Another idea is to place them in a decorative bowl on a table.
Directions:
Set oven to 200 degrees
Thinly slice 2 or 3 oranges and/or grapefruits and place on a large tray lined with parchment paper.
Bake in the oven for 4-6 hours
Use string or ribbon to make ornaments or a garland!
